BTO Press Release - Combined Ecology Launched

17/11/2014

Combined Ecology – a new funding stream for BTO science activities

On 17th November 2014, BTO services Ltd (BTO) launched Combined Ecology, a re-brand of its commercial division. The aim being to provide additional funding for its scientific work.

Building on the BTO’s success in delivering a broad range of contracts for developers, NGOs, Government and environmental consultancies, Combined Ecology will offer a range of ecological services, from all-taxa surveys, to full analysis and reporting, through to mitigation recommendations.

Combined Ecology will compete in the international environmental consultancy market. All profits generated by Combined Ecology will be channelled into the BTO, providing an important source of funding at a time when all charities are facing increasing challenges in generating income.

Allan Archer, Commercial Director of Combined Ecology, commented, “Since the collapse of the economy there has been a gap in the unrestricted funds that the BTO can use to carry out needs driven scientific research. Through Combined Ecology we hope to fill that gap while providing a high-quality service in the international ecological consultancy arena, and in doing so, make a valuable contribution to biodiversity conservation.

He added, “BTO has a long history of successfully delivering a wide range of important, high profile contracts, such as the Severn Barrier, in the UK as well as a number of international projects. We believe that BTO can set industry-leading standards in international environmental consultancy which promotes sustainable development and helps business, government and NGOs achieve their goals.”
